Panellets

Pinetrees classic panellets

Panellets de almendras
Almond panellets

De izquieda a derecha: coco, café y chocolate.
From left to right: coconut, coffee and chocolate.

Today I want to show you my own made panellets. For all those who don't know what they are I am going to tell you exactly what it's all about.
Keeping in mind that in Spain we don't celebrate Halloween itself, although in the last years the american influence has been breaking through, in Catalonia specifically it has always been a tradition in All Saints eve (1st of November) of eating chestnuts, sweet potatoes and panellets with sweet wine or cava. A celebration or festivity called Castanyada.
Now that I am in the Netherlands and I can't buy these sweets I decided to make them myself, at least what I like the most. Panellets. And there we go, this has been the result.
I hope you like them and those who have holidays until tuesday enjoy with your people too.

"Huisje, boompje, beestje"

Hi all again! After more than three weeks without Internet access I’m back here to explain you what’s up with my life in the Netherlands. I titled this post "huisje, boompje, beestje" (meaning "house, tree, animal") because it is a saying in Dutch refering to the pursuit of stability and the process involved. As in our case.
Since I posted last time, John and I found a small apartment in Apeldoorn and moved after some days. I couldn’t tell you anything because we had no time buying the furniture and moving in a couple of days. But now that we have made ourselves comfortable and we have access to the world again I can show you the places where we have been walking these days and John’s dog, whose we have recently accommodated in our house. Fleur.
So far I haven’t found a job and days are really long but I don’t stop looking for something to do and spend my time while learning the language…
Housewife’s lifestyle, without being one of them, is not my thing.

Today sunday we've done something amusing taking advantage of the fact that John wasn't working and that it started the ice skating season in one of the tracks of the country: Thialf. We spent the morning skating on a very hard ice, really different of the one I practised with before in the track of Barcelona ('Skating')... At the beginning I though that I would fall down all the time but at the end it just happenned once. And it was even funny because after falling I kept sliding so it's not like when you fall on the ground...Anyways, every time that I felt I was about to lose my center of gravity a kind of empty balloon filled my stomach up.
After that we had lunch in the bar. Waffle with sirup for dessert, Stroopwafel.
And when we were coming back...we had a fault with the car. Fantastic! Nothing important, though. After a while we could "reset our way" and we arrived safely.
Casually, at the stretch to our destination we saw a ballooning with the noon sun shinning, so I could take a pretty nice picture.
And what about you, what have you done during the weekend?

Since I arrived in the Netherlands two weeks ago I've done a lot of turism and I've started my lessons of dutch on my own...so I've reached to sightsee quite a few places of the country; so far from the north area, where we are living...
Here I attach you some picts of the most beautiful landscapes that we've been taking photos from.
Besides that, luckily enough we've found a small apartment where, if everything goes as planned, we'll move next week. In Apeldoorn, a city which most likely I'll talk to you about in coming posts.

A sum up of my summer...
Keeping in mind that summer is what goes from june to ends of september and not beach, sun and party. That is not my case. For all those who were following me before and those who will follow me from now on (I hope)...I explain you what was about me during the time that I couldn't refresh this blog for several reasons. Mainly, the lack of time and of a proper Internet connection.

Since I went on board of the Disney Magic in june I did little more than working. During the almost three months that I spent there I learnt a lot of things, I met a lot of people, but overall, I had such an experience in many ways...It had good and not so good things...But I can't sum up all I lived at once. As I say to some of my friends, I could write a book with all the things that happen in " a life on board".
As I can't explain a lot myself now, here I attache some pictures of the places I had been. Basically, in the Mediterranean.
When we disembarked at the beginning of this month we spent more than a week with my family (nearby Barcelona) and then we packed again our suitcases to head ourselves, of course, to another far place from my home and my closest friends...Netherlands. Country that, as you know, I visited already last April but from now onwards will be my home. I just started to study the language so this is serious...
A lot of people asked me why Netherlands; and there is not a single reason. I don't see myself back in Barcelona yet. In London we spent some months together with John and, although we trully miss our old life there, now I wanted to try something different...and this was the way for me to learn the language as some day it had to happen hanging with a dutch guy...
New paragraph: from now on, for all that people that I met from all over the world I will edit my updates also in english. I hope you all follow loyal my blog, because I still have a lot of things to tell you and show you from here although I am not gonna be the first nor the last...
Hugs!
